Alloy steel pipes are mainly divided into two types by manufacturing process: hot rolling (extrusion) and cold drawing (rolling). The process determines the dimensional accuracy and mechanical properties of the pipe.
Hot Rolling (Extrusion) Process:
Process flow: Round billet → Heating → Piercing → Three-roll cross rolling, continuous rolling, or extrusion → Pipe removal → Sizing (or reducing) → Cooling → Straightening → Inspection.
Hot-rolled pipes are suitable for medium to large diameters and offer high production efficiency.
Cold Drawing (Rolling) Process:
Process flow: Round billet → Heating → Piercing → Pointing → Annealing → Pickling → Oiling → Multi-pass cold drawing → Heat treatment → Straightening → Inspection.
Cold-drawn pipes provide higher dimensional accuracy and better surface quality, making them suitable for small-diameter and thin-walled pipes.
Both processes can produce products that meet national standards. Users can choose the appropriate process based on dimensional and precision requirements for their specific application.
Application Scenarios:
Hot-rolled pipes → Large-diameter transmission pipelines
Cold-drawn pipes → Precision mechanical structures and high-pressure piping systems
